Education Coordinator - Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Maryland (CBNERR-MD)
Born and raised for most of her life in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, Coreen Weilminster spent her days exploring the woods and lake near her home. She has 24 years experience in EE (19 in Maryland), a BS from Penn State University (‘92) in Political Science and a Master of Arts degree in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Environmental Education which she finished in 1995 through a Graduate Teaching Fellowship at the Montclair State University, New Jersey School of Conservation with a 4.0 GPA and honors. Coreen served on the Board of Directors for the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE) from 2001 - 2014, and was the 2011 & 2012 Board President. Currently, Coreen is the Education Coordinator for the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Maryland (CBNERR-MD), one of 28 Research Reserves around the country. She is a committed member of the education staff of DNR’s Chesapeake and Coastal Services Unit.

Breakouts will focus on themes in current Patuxent River Science including research, monitoring, restoration, and management efforts and where they are occurring along the 115 miles of the River.

Afternoon Immersive Breakouts (Part 1)

Part 1 of the afternoon immersive breakouts will be a forum on Patuxent River Education focused on sharing the engaging curriculum and learning experiences currently available within the River watershed as well as an opportunity to brainstorm future collaborative education opportunities.
Afternoon Immersive Breakouts (Part 2)

Part 2 of the afternoon immersive breakouts will celebrate Science Translation & Artistic Interpretation through case studies in which Patuxent River science and monitoring results were successfully transformed into meaningful learning experiences.

This isn’t your typical networking event! The Patuxent River Conference Science Networking and Expo is a forum for connecting with your fellow scientists, educators, decision-makers and more while sipping on well-deserved refreshments. Take a moment to visit a few of our expo participants who are eager to share their passion and dedication to Patuxent River science & education with you while enjoying songs from the local band Big Tribe who have written and performed songs inspired by the Patuxent River itself.
